Kristen Pawlak, DDCD, has been transforming Louisville homes and commercial spaces since founding KP Designs in 2009. A multi-award-winning and certified designer, her work has appeared in House Beautiful, Elle Décor, HGTV, Louisville Magazine, StyleBlueprint, and more. Known for creating timeless yet on-trend spaces, Kristen brings both artistry and precision to every project.
Before diving into design full-time, Kristen built a successful career in marketing research—skills she now uses to uncover each client’s unique vision and deliver it with seamless execution. From selecting the perfect furnishings to orchestrating large-scale renovations, she thrives on balancing beauty with practicality.
A Michigan native who has called Louisville home for over 30 years, Kristen serves on the Decorating Den corporate Leadership Council and shares her expertise through speaking engagements and community design projects. When she’s not creating stunning spaces, she’s traveling, enjoying the outdoors, and spending time with her family and beloved dogs.

Ralph Pawlak

RK Renovations

KP Designs has an excellent alliance partner with RK Renovations. Having Ralph based in our studio to work with our clients is an asset that sets our design business apart. As we do “every room in the house”, Ralph’s firm provides all contract labor needed to renovate kitchens, bathrooms, as well as any room requiring light construction.

Ralph has helped Kristen in the business for several years, but also retired from a 30+ year career with the FAA in Air Traffic Control. In his very limited spare time, he enjoys aviation as a private pilot, building anything mechanical, mountain biking, and any outdoor recreation, especially during his trips to the Lake Michigan area.
